Why this requires an extension

Reddit provides no native content filter. UK political stories appear in r/worldnews, r/news, r/unitedkingdom, r/ukpolitics, r/europe, and r/AskReddit threads. Muting one subreddit doesn’t filter the topic from others. A keyword filter is the only way to block it across all feeds at once.

The setup

1. Install Ultimate Reddit Filter

2. Paste the keyword preset

Click the extension icon → Keywords tab → paste all of the following:

3. Optionally block UK-focused subreddits

Open the Subreddits tab and add any of these to remove their posts from r/all and r/popular:

4. Tune for false positives and reload

tory will catch posts mentioning “tory” in a Canadian political context. If you follow Canadian politics, replace it with tory uk or remove it and rely on the party name instead.

brexit is now rarely used in mainstream headlines but still appears in analysis and commentary — keep it if you want to avoid all post-Brexit coverage.

What this won’t do

This filter hides matched posts from your visible feed. It does not block UK news from appearing in Reddit search results, does not work in the official Reddit app, and does not affect notifications from subscribed subreddits.
