How to Block AI News Posts on Reddit (2026 Guide)
A complete setup to hide ChatGPT, OpenAI, Gemini, and all AI-hype posts from your Reddit feed — with a copy-paste keyword preset.
Last updated May 27, 2026
To block AI news posts on Reddit in 2026, install Ultimate Reddit Filter and paste in a keyword preset covering model names (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), company names (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind), and general AI hype terms (AGI, LLM, AI-generated). Two minutes to configure. Reddit has no built-in way to filter by topic — an extension is required.

TL;DR
- Reddit has no native keyword filter. You need a browser extension.
- Best tool: Ultimate Reddit Filter (free, Chrome + Firefox).
- Copy-paste the preset below — covers models, companies, and general hype terms.
- For nuclear removal of all AI content: pair with a subreddit blocklist.
- Doesn’t work in the official Reddit app — use Kiwi Browser on Android or Orion on iOS.
Why Reddit has no built-in AI filter
As of May 2026, Reddit’s native tools cover subreddit muting and NSFW toggling only. There is no built-in keyword filter, no topic category blocker, and no way to filter by flair natively. Every post title on your feed is scanned and matched by the extension after the page loads.
The setup
1. Install Ultimate Reddit Filter
Ultimate Reddit Filter — free, open source, actively maintained as of May 2026.
Available for Chrome, Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Edge, Arc), and Firefox.
2. Open the extension and paste the preset
Click the Ultimate Reddit Filter icon → Keywords tab → paste the list below, one term per line:

3. Add AI-heavy subreddits to the block list
Switch to the Subreddits tab and add:
ChatGPT
OpenAI
artificial
MachineLearning
singularity
LocalLLaMA
StableDiffusion
midjourney
AIArt
Bing
This prevents posts from those subs appearing in r/all and r/popular even if their titles don’t match your keyword list.
4. Enable comment filtering and test
Under Settings, toggle Filter comments on. This hides matching comments in threads you do visit — useful if you’re reading tech subreddits where AI discussion bleeds into unrelated threads.
Tuning the preset
The list above catches most AI coverage. If you’re seeing false positives (legitimate posts about non-AI topics getting caught):
- Remove
nvidia aiif you want GPU news but not AI news - Remove
machine learningif it’s catching academic posts you want - Add
nvidia(standalone) if you want all Nvidia posts gone, not just AI-related ones
If you want broader coverage, add: tech layoffs, silicon valley, startup funding, venture capital.
What this won’t do
This filter removes posts from your visible feed. It does not prevent AI-related posts from existing on Reddit, does not affect your Reddit notifications if you follow relevant subreddits, and does not work inside the official Reddit iOS or Android app. For mobile filtering, see the Reddit mobile filtering guide.
Going further
- Nuclear option: If you work in tech and AI posts are unavoidable even with keyword filtering, News Feed Eradicator removes the Reddit home feed entirely. Pair it with keyword filtering for direct browsing.
- Export your list: The AI landscape shifts fast — new models, new companies, new hype terms. Export your keyword list periodically via the extension settings so you don’t lose your tuned version.
- Relabel mode: Use relabel instead of hide to see that posts were filtered without seeing the content. Useful while calibrating the list.
If it’s not working
- AI posts still appearing? Most leaks are image-based posts (screenshots, memes) where “ChatGPT” isn’t in the Reddit title. Add the specific subreddits where you see leaks to the Subreddits tab.
- Too many false positives?
artificial intelligenceis broad — replace it withartificial intelligence newsorai hypeif it’s catching legitimate ML research you want to see. - Mobile not working? The Reddit mobile app cannot run extensions. Install Kiwi Browser (Android) or Orion (iOS) and add the extension inside either.
