Why AITA is so unavoidable

AITA-format posts (Am I The Asshole?) appear in at least six subreddits as of May 2026 — r/AmItheAsshole, r/AITAH, r/AmIOverreacting, r/relationship_advice, r/relationships, and r/TwoHotTakes — and they reliably hit r/all. A title-only filter on aita misses about 40% of them because the format spreads under different acronyms.

The setup

1. Install Ultimate Reddit Filter

Free, Chrome and Firefox. Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.

2. Paste the AITA keyword preset

Extension icon → Keywords tab:

4. Optional — comment filtering

5. Reload Reddit

Browse r/all and r/popular for thirty seconds. If anything AITA-shaped still appears, copy the title pattern into the keyword list.

What this won’t do

• Won’t filter screenshots of AITA posts shared as image posts to other subreddits. The text is in the image, so the title filter misses them. Subreddit blocks help here.
• Won’t catch BORU summaries. r/BestOfRedditorUpdates posts often summarize AITA stories without the AITA acronym. Block the subreddit if it bothers you.
• Won’t work on the Reddit mobile app. Use Kiwi or Yandex (Android) or Orion (iOS) for mobile coverage.

Going further

• Relabel mode: instead of hiding posts, relabel them as [filtered: AITA] so you know something was filtered. Useful while you tune the list.
